Mommy you're on call too, and watch out for the heart attack snow.

Yes, it really is as crazy as it sounds!!! No, they weren't said in one sentence, but both were said around here yesterday!!!

I'll start with the "heart attack snow." So, as i mentioned yesterday we got a lot of snow. I think when all was said and done, we got about 8 here at home. It wasn't just a light fluffy snow. It was almost a rain snow mix. When I went up to get the kids yesterday I was SOAKED in the time it took me to walk from my car to the door. And of course I had to do it again 30 minutes later to get Gabe! IT was wet, and cold, and yuck. Last night, we watched the news to hear how much it messed up the state. We don't regularly watch the news because there's always a kid around and they hear WAY too much on there. But we watched last night, and it was all about how the snow we got yesterday is affectionately dubbed "heart attack snow" because its heavy, wet, and is SUCH a work out to move that its been known to cause several heart attacks. That was the closing line on the news we were watching. Watch out. I took note, but I was still out there at 7 am shoveling the driveway so I could get the van out to take the kids to school. It wasn't horrible if you were just pushing the shovel. But man, try to lift that shovel and it felt like you had about 80 pounds on it!!!!

Now, the on call part. I don't know if I've yet mentioned, but my husband does apartment maintenance. And he has to do on call with this job. Its for the non working hours. He and another guy on a different property share the on call, and they rotate two weeks on, two weeks off for both properties. Todd just had a gut feeling that he'd get a call last night. And sure enough a no heat call rolled in about 7:45. So off he went, nasty roads and all, to get someones heat working for them. He got home around 9;30, and we crawled into bed, and finished watching Medium. (damn them and their two parters! Had to catch this week because of last week!) I was JUST starting to fall asleep, and his on call phone went off again. I'd say it was probably 11:30? He gets up, and I over hear him giving someone his personal cell number so that they could call him back because he too was sleeping and couldn't think of the on call phones number! I woke up enough to hear what was going on this time. A garage door at the other property just going up and down, up and down. Todd was having the guy check FOR SURE that it was still doing it, before he drove the 45 minutes down there only to find nothing was wrong. So, dude goes and checks, and yes, its still going on.

I'm drifting in and out at this point, just wanting to go to sleep. I hear him getting all ready, and about to leave, and then I hear 'mommy, you're on call tonight too'. Huh? What??? What do you mean? And of course, what he had to say next is what I DIDN'T want to hear. "Gabe's up puking in his room. All over the floor actually." Well why the heck didn't you at least get him to the BATHROOM rather than just letting him let loose on the carpet? Because that would only make sense right? So, I went in, dealt with the issues at hand, and wouldn't you know had everything cleaned up, and Gabe changed, and put back to bed before he even made it out the door? Go figure I guess. It can never be as simple as "you're up, deal with it."

Today the blah's seem to continue. Still nothing sounds good, and I really really have NO desire to clean my house. And now we add to the mix the fact that Gabe's home. He went to school this morning, because he woke up this morning just fine. I chalked the midnight puking up to the fact that he went to bed RIGHT after dinner, and maybe things didn't have time to digest right? But the nurse called, and he had a headache and a sore throat. Joy. Gotta give this a day or two and see what happens. Hopefully it isn't the start of another round of sickness. I don't know that i could take any more of that this winter. Not with how much we've already had, and how for ONCE everyone seemed to be getting better. So we'll see with that one I guess.

Dallas must have the blah's too. He was SO off last night. Almost like he was just looking for trouble wherever he could find it. He wound up being sent to bed early last night, rather than allow him to keep on the path he was on, destined to hurt himself or get into something he REALLY shouldn't get into. I'm hoping the extra sleep will have helped too!!!

My dad came by yesterday too. Even in all that snow and yuck. I was supposed to pick up boxes while I was out to his house this weekend, but I totally forgot. He offered to drop them off here at our house for us, which is a HUGE help. He came yesterday regardless of the snow, and yuck. I'm so thankful for that! I love my dad. He got about 20 boxes, all different sizes. It will be a great starting point for me to start packing up this house, and a great start for the crazy busy summer we have ahead. I have no clue where I'm going to PUT the boxes, but I'm sure we'll figure it out somehow.

This summer's goings on are really better saved for a different day when I have more definite answers. But its bound to be big. Really really big.

UGH! Sorry about the puking! I can't stand cleaning it up. Makes me puke too. UGH!
I can't believe you are getting snow in April! I knew there was a reeason I am further south. LOL (although it's a rainy yucky mess in NJ today) PS I think I hate shoveling snow almost as much as I hate cleaning puke! No wonder you have the "blahs".

So Sorry you have the TUESDAY BLUES TOO! YUCK YUCK! I have total puke-o-phobia(is that a word)...and i absolutely hate cleaning it up.

POOR BABY! I hope he gets better soon and that it was just eating late and not some icky bug going around. I wonder when kidos are old enough to just "know" something is coming up and run to the bathroom?? My 3.5 year old kinda knows...but only as i'm yelling.."RUN RUN TO THE TOILET"(as she's gagging and puke flying everywhere)...LOL!

Hope the weather clears up soon too! O how you should move down south! :) Today it's raining a bit and icky(HORRIBLE HUMIDITY which is not good for the hair)..but 75 degrees and the girls wore cute little dresses to school! I'm always torn between whether i'd like to live up north or down south..up north..you don't get the scorching 100degree temps in the middle of aug like we do...but you get warmer weather sooner...up north..you freeze your keister off but you can probably play outside in the middle of august and it's nice outside! I guess it's one or the other! LOL! Of course i LOVE the heat so it doesn't bother me much..my hubby was born in KS and HATES the heat...although he HATES the cold too! TOO bad it can't just stay spring all year around for us! :)

Anyway, i won't write a novel...but i hope ya'll stay well and keep warm!

Aww, thanks ladies! I hate to be such a downer on here. I know that how I'm feeling is hugely linked to the weather, and once that turns, things should be looking more up!

Brenda, we've honestly had thoughts of moving south. But we're both so in love with the fact that ALL our family is up here, and that our kids get to grow up surrounded by loved ones. It makes it really hard to consider leaving after realizing that!!! The weather here isn't too bad I guess. Only most people here are ready for winter to be gone by about Feb. We've had it for 5 months by that point, we can head into the nicer, warmer stuff. And we do get the stifling hot heat too, in July usually, 100's or so, and high humidity, but we don't get NEARLY as many as down south.

I was just going to say... duuuude! It's that dang weather! Hopefully it will all be done with by the end of the month. It's the same way here though.. we get snow all the way up until May some years. When my mom was a teen, she was down the road from here playing tennis and it started snowing on them. In JULY! Gotta love Colorado weather!

Sorry to here about Gaby-boy. You guys just can't get a break with the sickness this year! Give him hugs for me.
