Did you know Dilly Bars have belly buttons?

Yesterday was stress all around for both Todd and I. So, we decided that we were NOT going to try to deal with supper, and all that that entailed on top of all the stress. We counted our cash that we had left from the weekend, and decided we were going to take the kids to Chili's for supper! Its always a hit, because the kids love the chips and salsa there. We can usually eat for pretty reasonable there. That, plus Todd could have one of their very large presidente margaritas! I thought that sounded like a good idea for him, knowing it would help with the stress. (I don't drink, not because i have anything against it, just don't like the taste, never have!!) So, when we were finishing up, and getting ready to pay, I remembered that I'd had some old Dairy Queen kids meal free treat coupons in my purse, from the last time we'd been to the mall. They always give the treat coupon on the bag, but we save them up, and go on a night like last night! It works out really well actually!!! So I asked the kids if they wanted to go for ice cream after we left Chili's and you can only imagine that the answer was a resounding YES!!!!

So, we headed across the street to the D.Q. All the while the kids are discussing what they're going to get. With the kids treat bags you can get a limited selection of treats, but its enough to make them happy, so that's what counts. The plan was for Dallas to get an ice cream cone, The twins were going to get theirs in a cup (and share with mommy since i can never really eat much of the stuff!) Gabe was going to get the dilly bar, and Todd was going to get an ice cream cone (we had 5 coupons, and they were nice enough to let us use them all even though we only had 4 kids with us!!! I suppose if you count Todd as a big kid, it works out ok!)

Everyone got their ice cream, and we're sitting there eating. Kendyl and I sharing ice cream, at the table with Todd and Kaleb, and the boys are sitting at a small two seater at the table next to us. Gabe opens up his dilly bar and says "ITS REALLY HARD!" So we told him just to give it a second and it would start to soften up as it warmed up. Of course that didn't work, in our sense of things, because he wanted that chocolate off and in a hurry! The hard ice cream worked in his favor though, he could pluck the chocolate off without having to have the ice cream at the same time! He was contently eating his dilly bar, when he very excitedly walks over to me and says "MOMMY MOMMY! I finally ate the belly button off!!!! " Todd and I LOST IT!!!!!

I guess I didn't realize that dilly bars HAD belly buttons! Nor did I realize one 5 1/2 year old could eat one off and be rather excited about it! I took home his dilly bar wrapper, and scanned it in, so you could all see what he's talking about. And yes, in the picture on the wrapper, it sure does look like dilly bars have belly buttons!!!!!

Whats even more funny is did you know that once one 5 1/2 year old eats the belly button off the dilly bar, he is apparently left with a volcano?? Yep. Its true! You eat the swirly belly button off, and it looks like you're left with one frozen volcano of chocolate and ice cream! Did you also know that it gives two little boys the giggles while one 5 1/2 year old tries to eat the ice cream out of the inside of said volcano hole? Yep. Sure does! And its the kind of giggles that make everyone in the store turn around, look, and smile, because its the sound of pure innocent joy!!!!

It really was what we needed last night. We needed just to get out as a family, with no stress, even if alcohol induced on someones part, and relax before having to get back into the swing of things, and start the stress all up again today.

I'm so thankful for my munchkins. They always seem to be our bright shining sun in the middle of any dark time. They love us unconditionally, and don't care that we're not perfect. They may get under our skin, and we may not always see eye to eye but they are always amazing. Always. I'm so lucky to be their mommy.

Mmmm... Dilly Bar belly buttons. I could eat about 20 of them lol. The buttons, not whole bars.

By the way, I only scanned down far enough to see the top line of your other blog entry so all I got was "Emotionally drained potty" haha!
Ok, off to see what it be.

Yes, gabe rather enjoyed his belly button! He mostly likes them for the chocolate. . .eats very little of the ice cream, but hey, its free!
