Today was the last official eye exam for Dallas before his appointment in June for surgery. We still have to go in a few weeks to have his eye measured for the new lens, and what not, but for now, we're done.
They did the full exam, and said that his vision hasn't changed any in the last 7 weeks. So that means we've been in this gigantic plateau for the last 14 weeks. He's stuck at 20/60 vision. (for those that get confused by that, it means that Dallas has to be at 20 feet to see what the normal person can see at 60 feet!) Which is kind of disappointing, since they were hoping to get him to 20/30, which is considered driving vision.
She said we'll keep up with the patching for now, and and continue till the surgery, and then after the surgery, he'll be done with patching for about 1 month, and we'll reassess to see if he needs it again, and how his body accepts the new lens. And that chances are at that point, he'll need a prescription for the right eye to see better. The vision out of his left eye is PERFECT. So none needed there, but just for the right eye.
He did much better with this exam too. He knows the routine now, and knows what to expect, and knows what the doctors are going to say when he says he can't see something, so he doesn't fight so hard any more, which is really nice!
After the appointment, we grabbed a quick sandwich at McDonald's for breakfast, and I took him back up to the school so he could catch back up with his day. It of course, was reading time. He not so favorite class.
Hopefully in just 6 short weeks, we'll be on our way to a kiddo who's eye is way better!!!!

I was wondering where you were ;)
I hope Dallas can find some peace with what is about to go on, and that he doesn't work himself into a tizzy (same for Mom!) in the next few weeks. Nerves and all that!!
When's the big day again??
June 19th is the official surgery day. we have to be there at 5:30 am, and his surgery is just after 7 am.
OK, so I just added Dallas to my prayer list on my blog!
