Here are the pictures as promised! It sounds like the storm was just straight line winds, which doesn't make sense to many of us neighbors, since the trees fell in ALL different directions. Either way, the storm was contained to about a 3 block radius of our house. We were right in the middle of the worst of the damage. We escaped with no damage to our house, others weren't as fortunate. And because mother nature has a sense of humor, our dead trees are still standing, the ones we'd expected to go... but the ones that went down were young healthy trees. GO FIGURE!!!
My precious
ornamental crab tree went down. I'm glad I got my pictures of the kids out there when I did. Or it would have never happened! (the picture from my header was taken under it just weeks ago!) Our front yard now looks very very bare!!!!
With out further ado, here are the pictures. Some are from the night it happened, when it was all we could see, and the rest from the next day.
This first one is my crab tree in the front yard. It just snapped it right over. Not much of a surprise, considering the shape of the thing was like a gigantic umbrella.

This is the neighbors tree. We couldn't tell if it had hit our house at this point. It was pretty dark.

Another of the crab.

Now , in the day light, cutting up my beautiful tree!

This is looking RIGHT across the street from us. They had a neighbors pine go down and another tree go down. both missed their porch, and their cars. They barely made it home before the storm came in. I guess it suctioned their door right shut as they were walking in, it came on that fast. Two doors down from them the downed power lines started a fire behind their garage.

This is right next door to the one across the street from us. They lost shingles, and the tree (off to the right side, you can see the roots sticking up still.)

This is a closer up of the tree that went down. Its right next to our neighbors garage, and our fence. You can see our fence there in the middle. Totally crushed.

This is looking into our back yard. just a few branches down back there. There was a tree down on another part of the fence, but I didn't realize that until I'd put the camera away, so no photo evidence of that.

This is looking through the tree, towards our house. It was pretty close to hitting the side. It would have hit our room, and the boys' room.

If you look close enough, you can see the tree on the garage. This is behind us and over one. They had two trees go down, one on the garage. They don't have insurance, because they were just in the process of fixing the house up. We watched the power crew cutting down the parts of their tree they couldn't get last night, and we watched them turn all our power back on, it was off because of this particular house, and the downed lines there.

Loading up my dads trailer.

All done. . .this is whats currently left. She's going to call her insurance company to come fix the driveway, and get rid of the stump, and take care of the massive hole.

You can't really see it in this picture, but our fence in the corner there is pretty mangled.

This is our brush pile in front of our house. . . we're hoping the city comes and gets it like they did last time. But it sounds like they may not because not as many people were effected this time.

Dad's truck, and trailer both were loaded, and this was him about to pull away.

So there you have it...
That's how WE spent our fathers day. Doesn't that sound like fun??? I feel horrible that that is how Todd and My dad had to spend their fathers day. But there was no avoiding it. We needed to get it taken care of.
Thank you for all the thoughts, prayers, and kind words!!!

What a mess!!!! Go lucky it didn't fall on your house, and really, that you weren't home! I'd have been freaking, I think - but I'm a wuss!
And I say - if it's not one thing, it's another.
When are you going to get your down time??
