Well, after thinking about my "mommy moment" for this week, I had to spend some time reflecting on a few hard things from my last week. And you know, sometimes its just not easy to be a mommy. Each of the kids had something this last week that as a mom, I just have to try to work through with them.
First up is Kaleb. The poor little guy has been complaining of stomach pain for about a week now. It doesn't come at any specific time. It isn't predictable, and its starting to make me worry. Over the weekend we even had to give him tylenol for it, because he was in tears. But then there are other times where he's fine, and acts like nothing is wrong. We talked to the nurse line, and because my insurance is so crappy, they said to wait it out the next few days and doctument what's going on at each point where he said it hurt. This will help to figure out what might be causing it, and how we can fix it. And, it will mean we don't have to have two very expensive appointments we can't afford. I feel bad for him. The poor little guy. And I hate that feeling as a mom. That helpless, "what do I do?" feeling. I'm hoping we'll get some answers on it soon.
The other three kids have been more attitude issues lately. Its been more trying to handle some behaviors they've had that have just been out of control. With Dallas its very hard, because he gets SO wound up SO fast when he's not on his meds. We don't give them to him on the weekend, just when he's in school. And sometimes that's hard. Because he is so constant, and so. .. annoying!!! I hate to say that about my son, but its true. He can be down right annoying sometimes!!! And Gabriels issue has been more of the weepy crying stuff. It takes NOTHING to have him in tears. And when he's in tears, he doesn't want anything but to burry his face in my side, and try to talk to me. Of course I can't understand him, and when I try to bend down to talk to him, he pushes harder, and cries more. I'm not sure what's going on with Gabe, but there are a few issues going on with his little self that have me wondering. Kendyl on the other hand has just been showing all her little girl attitude!!! She YELLED at me to help her take her coat off yesterday. I told her I would not until she asked nice. Would you believe an HOUR later she FINALLY asked Todd nice to take her coat off? She's a stubborn little stinker that one!!!!
I'm hoping to have some better mommy moments to share this week ahead!!

Today was Kaleb and Kendyl's preschool screening.
During Kaleb and Kendyl's three year well check in July, I was prompted to speak to the school about their speech. They would like to see 75% of all speech be understood by others by the age of three. This is not the case for Kaleb and Kendyl. I was told "contact the school, and they'll help you out." So I did. And I was told that before the speech therapist would speak to me I would first have to have them screened. Well, today was that day. They originally wanted me to just have their speech done today, and then come back for all the other screening in January when they were a little older. They are considered "new three" and they figured they wouldn't get everything done today.
They took them in for their speech screen, and there I sat. Talking to all the preschool teachers and directors that had had Gabe just a few short years ago. I know all these ladies fairly well, so it was fun! Then, out walks Kaleb with his "teacher". She said "do you have time today?" I told her that my boys were out at 11:50 (gotta love early release day!) but other than that I was free, why? She informed me that the twins were doing SO well, and were SO cooperative that they thought they could do ALL the screening today! I was so proud of them! They were NOT expecting them to be that way! They were expecting typical new three's, who fight with it, and don't want to do things! But they did AWESOME!!!!
At the end, it did turn out that they are going to refer us on to the speech therapist for her to evaluate them and see what needs to be done. But we now don't have to go in January for another screening, because they were SUCH big kids!!! I'm so proud!!
I had to take "school" pictures of them today. They were feeling slightly left out, since the boys got theirs yesterday and they were "going to school today". So we took a couple pictures of them this morning that we'll send out along with the boys' school pictures!!!
Here they are! My big three year olds!!!

School pictures are in!!!
And my boys did an AWESOME job this year!!! They turned out SOOOO awesome! I'm so happy with them!!! We usually end up with an overly cheesey smile, or something of that nature. But not this year!! And it was amazing to put them in the little sorter that I have (it has a small opening for grades K-11, and a large one in the center for their grad pictures). They've both changed SO much!!
Without further ado, here are my handsome little men!!!
Dallas: 7 years old, second grade

Gabriel: 6 years old, first grade.

Laugh until you cry.
Ever had one of those moments? Where you're not sure if you should laugh or cry? Well, how about laughing until you cry??? That was exactly what happened this morning. Todd and I have been so stressed lately, and things just seem to keep piling up. We're hardly getting to see each other. Usually a few minutes in the morning before he has to leave for work, and a few minutes when he gets home, because I'm SO tired I can hardly keep my eyes open by that point. And its really been taking its toll on our family. The kids are missing him terribly, and so am I.
Well, this morning his boss wasn't going to be in till later, so he stayed home a few extra minutes, and we were able to have some time for just us. To be together, talk about whats going on, and even to laugh. It was so refreshing to spend that time with him. To just be US again. There was one point where we were both laughing so hard we had tears streaming down our faces. Our sides hurt because we were laughing so hard! It was GLORIOUS!!!!! Definatly what the doctor ordered!!!
I'm hoping we can keep stealing the little moments like this over the next few months while things continue to be hectic!

Way back When-sday!
So, since we're now close enough to Halloween to start talking about it, I figured I'd dedicate my next two weeks worth of Way Backs to Halloweens past!!! I finally sat down and restored my external hard drive, so I have OLD pictures again! WOO HOO!!!! It was so hard to choose, but here's what I came up with!!!
This was the twin's second Halloween. They were LESS than thrilled to be posing with the masked men behind them!!!! Dallas was spiderman, Gabriel was batman, and the twins were pebbles and bam bam!!!

Needless to say there was NOT a picture from that year of them all looking, and being happy!!!
If you'd like to get in on the way back fun, head on over to Twinfatuation!!!

Two for Twos-day

My two for today are Dallas and Kendyl, and Dallas and Kaleb!!!! I LOVE this picture of them! Dallas is such a great big brother when it comes to the babies!! He's so patient, and understanding, and loving!!! You can see by the look on the twin's face that they just eat it up too!!!! I just love watching the different relationships develop with my kiddos! I have pictures taken right after this one of the twins with Gabe, and they're making karate poses, and giggling like silly fools! I hope these are relationships that will last them a life time! I just love how close they are now though!!!

Mommy moment Monday!
Its Monday yet again, which means its time for another mommy moment from the past week. And you know what? I'm sitting here, trying to think of one. And nothing is rushing to my mind! We had such a busy week that all the details are blurring together!!! There were the usual things like shopping. My kids have been doing so great there! No begging, no pestering (well, except for each other!!!), and they were actually even pretty quiet. That in itself is a small miracle! Taking four kids under the age of 7 out to a store usually means a pretty high level of volume. They could be quiet as a mouse, well, until we walk through the door that is!!!!!
Hmmm, what sticks out from this last week. OH!!!! I got it! I have a proud mommy moment!!! We got Dallas's mid term teacher report this last week!!! On Friday actually! And I opened it up and about fell over! Seriously! IT was AMAZING!!!! Here is what it said:
Reading:
Your student was given a fall reading assessment to check their independent reading level. Your child scored: Above Grade Level- Grade 6
(HOLY!!! WHAT!?!?!?! Grade SIX?!?!?! He's only in the start of SECOND grade!!!)
Math:
Students have been wroking on addition and subtraction. They need to demonstrate understanding of partners and totals . Your child is performing: At grade level at all or almost all objectives.
(PERFECT!! Can't ask for more than right on track!)
Spelling:
Students have weekly spelling lists to practice. Every Thursday they have a spelling test, which is worth 12 points. Your child is performing: Consistently exceeds grade level expectations.
(WOO HOO!!! I knew this one was coming. He hasn't missed a single word on his spelling tests yet! And he even gets the bonus words too!)
Homework:
Students receive a homework packet every Friday. The homework needs to be completed and turned in by the next Monday. Your child's effort is: Excellent
I'm so proud of him! With the addition of the ADD meds, and the fixing of his eye, with adding the glasses in, he's just taken off, and is having a FANTASTIC year this year!!! EXCELLENT year!! I'm so happy for him!

If you want to play along, just let me know in a comment, and I'll link to you here!
