Wow. I really stink at making the time to get here and update. It always seems that there is something going on, some project to complete, some homework assignment to get done for me or the kids, some chore to complete. Its never ending!
I wish I was better at it. I wish that I could have been using this as more of a journal of the major events in my children's lives. Instead I am left piecing together the sketchy memories I have between the pictures I've taken. I've even gotten bad at that lately. I used to always have a camera in my hand, always snapping pictures of the events of my kids lives. But again. I've even begun to suck at that!!
Hopefully in acknowledging the suckyness I can move forward with better intentions... Though I highly doubt it will come down to being any better or more consistent at blogging.
Big events to remember:
Kendyl got head lice. The first of any of my kids to get it, and MAN, I never ever ever want to have to deal with that again. Ever. We spent 4 1/2 hours one day combing through her hair with a gel in it that was supposed to help us comb out the nit. The next day we spent over 8 hours going strand by strand of her hair picking out the nits. Luckily there was only three bugs total, but they had done their fair share of damage. In going through her hair though, I came to realize that she has hair just like her mommy. She's blond if you look from a distance. Something I never was. But when going strand by strand you'd find a black hair here, a brown hair there, etc. It was kinda fun to see!! Luckily they are gone and everyone else int he house was spared!!!
Kaleb fractured his tibia on his left leg. Its an avulsion fracture and took us two weeks to get him into the doctor, because it would swell up, we'd ice it and do pain meds, the swelling would subside and then he'd walk on it again. It finally hit the point three weeks ago that he wouldn't walk on it. He's been in a walking boot ever since. He HATES it. And the boot smells. Little boy feet are sweaty and nasty and gross, and his boot smells like little boy feet. Yuck.
Dallas is going to be in a play! He tried out for the school play "Antigone"and got a part, or actually I think its a couple different parts? I'm not all together certain! The play is being put October 12 and 13 at 7. He's super excited, and we're excited to see what all his hard work has been up to!! He is really starting to turn into a pre teen! He's expressing his individuality and independence and I'm happy to see it go into something constructive like school plays! He's following in his Dad's footsteps!
Gabe has finally adjusted to school. He had a hard start to the year with the changes, and all of the unknowns that are so hard to take with his aspergers. Now that he knows the routine, and what is expected he's really starting to blossom! Its so funny to see him struggle some ways socially, and in others be a totally normal 10 1/2 year old boy. He's the first of the kids to express interest in crushes! This is kind of fun for us to watch! His siblings of course are teasing him unendingly about it. What are siblings for, right?
Other than that, we're sailing through life. Its like we're on a roller coaster and we're FLYING through everything. I can't believe its already October. Where did this year go?
